Acura unveils the new MDX today and announced that there will be no 2021 model of MDX. The MDX is upgraded with modern styling, lots of technology, a new powertrain option, and a new high-performance trim Type S is also added. We are happy to see that the production version is very much similar to the prototype.
The new Acura MDX is longer and wider than its predecessors with a 2.8 inch longer wheelbase. This increases the interior space with legroom for third-row increase by 1 inch and cargo space by 2 cubic feet to 18 cubic feet. The second-row seats of 2022 Acura MDX have a removable center section that can be a separator for captain’s chairs or a three-passenger bench, the total seating capacity is six passengers if the section is removed and seven if it’s not removed.
It features a 3.5 L V6 engine producing 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. In the place of nine-speed, there is a 10-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive comes standard and SH-AWD is optional for $2000 on the base model and models equipped with Technology package. The SH-AWD comes standard on the A-Spec model which starts at $58,125 and the fully loaded model with Advance package starts at $61,725.
The pricing for the high-performance Type S model of the 2022 Acura Model is not released by the automaker. It is powered by a turbocharged 3.0 L V6 engine that produces 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque and upgraded tires and brakes. It has a standard SH-AWD, ELS premium audio system and offers unique colors and interior trim options.
Acura said that the standard 2022 MDX will go on sale from 2 February 2021 at a starting price of $47,925 and the Type S will come in late summer of 2021.
