Mazda is giving 50 special edition Miata to local heroes for free

The year has been tough for all of us and we are very thankful to the individuals who have put their lives in this dangerous pandemic for protecting the community. Mazda is honoring them by giving away 50 of its 2020 Mazda MX-5 Miata 100th Anniversary edition.

Mazda announced a program a few months ago called “Mazda Heroes: Honoring the Human Spirit”. The automaker asked for submissions from people who have selflessly helped their community during the pandemic. They received 1000 submissions; Mazda chooses 50 from them to receive this special edition Miata including the Top 10 Mazda Heroes.

The 100th Anniversary trim comes in Snowflake white pearl mica exterior color with fast-top or a red soft top and “100-year” badge sprinkled throughout the exterior. Inside it, Miata has red leather seats and floor mats. The 100-year badge is also used throughout the interior. It is powered by a 2.0 L four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission producing 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque.

Mazda said it is paying tribute to its R360 coupe with the 100 Anniversary edition. Like the regular Grand Touring this limited-edition Miata has Apple Car Play, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, a Bose premium audio system, and 17-inch dark grey wheels. This special edition Miata’s has a starting price of $33,615 (including $915 destination fees).

The winners that have been chosen include health-care workers, teachers, small business owns, and all the people who have done various good things. Jason Erdreich a New Jersey middle-school shop teacher is one of the winners. Erdreich with a team of people with 3D printers manufacture 12,000 pieces of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and also came up with different ways to conduct STEM classes remotely.
